From the second half of the nineteenth century, the Catalan region of Berguedà (Barcelona) is the undisputed center in manufacturing high quality natural cement. This type of cement is made from an extract groundwater exploitation of a geological Upper Cretaceous Cenomian of the Catalan Pre-Pyrenees and has a chemical composition similar to Portland cement.
Cementos Collet SA in the History of Cement from 1940
In 1890, Pedro Pujol Thomas, resident of the city of Berga, began manufacturing Natural Cement in the estate of Collet d' Eyne in Guardiola de Berguedà. Half a century later, in 1940,the Count of Fígols, José de Olano Bariandaran and a businessman of Manresa called Bartolomé Casas Sala, created the company Cementos Collet SA, which has been manufacturing high quality natural cement until today.
